1982-2012

Something I've been thinking about today. Should the club make a fuss about the upcoming 30th anniversary or would it be going one step too far after what they did for the 25th?

One too far for me

Probably for me as well. There was a feel-good factor around the club five years ago which seems to have diminished somewhat since then.

Yep too much for me, we had our moment 5 years ago and its time to move on.  Its history and maybe we as a club need to start looking to the future.

It's worth a mention on the club site and programme etc, but I think any major hoo-ha is a step too far.

Not only a step too far but the 25th Anniversary took place when there was real optimism and enthusiasm about the club's future which I doubt would be the case next year, I think it would just serve to highlight how far away we are from attaining such heights. 30th is also a fairly non-descript anniversary anyway.

The club has exhausted our past successes in recent years.

As someone who wasn't alive during that period, I'd like their to be another celebration. 2006 was a great day and what's the harm in doing something similar?

There is no harm in celebrating our history. At this moment though it will only upset modern day supporters, who see the current ambitions and attitude of the club.

Could you please, just this once, refrain from saying the same things you say on just about every thread?

Nope. Ban me if you have any problem with what I say.

With pleasure. Now perhaps if we can return to the subject in hand.

Think we should, why not after all we are all proud of what we have done in the past. Need to remind people there was a Villa before Murdoch and that the star on the badge isn't a wandering one!!!

Not massive but enough to jog all our memories

Ahaha! What a daft thing to get banned for.

Despite Iago's continued ranting all over the discussion board, I think he/she has a point. The mood is all wrong, while we felt we were on the cusp of big change back in 2006, currently it feels, for me at least, as if we are as far away as ever from success.

I heard that the actual date falls on a Saturday and there was a move to perhaps have a bit of a 5 a side tournement amongst the supporters clubs with one or two of the former players involved. Playing it in Rotterdam itself was mentioned.

Sounds like a good boozy nostalgic weekend, we could have a H & V team perhaps.
