He looks scarily like MON in the dugout of that France clip btw.

Agree. In fact, would have said it was MON rather than GH.

Actually watching that clip you have to say that's probably about as shit a cross you could come up with in the context of the match at that time so you can kind of see GH's point and indeed ginola's- emile would have struggled to have matched such a wayward pointless ball and we don't think he does it deliberatly but then everyone thinks he's shit. I'm not sure there's much to gain from Ginola sueing GH to prove it wasn't deliberate and that in fact he's really really bad at crossing

This affair encapsulates the really petty side of Houllier. He clearly is one stubborn bastard and holds grudges forever. He would have sold Dunne, Collins and Gabby in the summer because of words they had or might have had. He hates Ginola for something that happened ages ago and something they should have moved on from. Qualifying campaigns, tournaments, leagues aren't won or lost on one incident and the mere fact that we are still talking about this shows how pathetic he can be to keep dredging it up. Houllier is good coach/manager as proved by his record over his career, and I still think he'd have made the changes to make us better in the long haul. But there's no denying that he doesn't half act the petulant prat at times.

It was a bit silly to cross the ball but he cannot be blamed for them conceding that goal, GH is a bit foolish!

Agree 100% TV.

For that reason, I never particularly liked him when he was at Liverpool and was neutral at best, when he was first linked with the Villa job. Which is crazy really, when you look at his record. I don't think in my lifetime we've ever been so big that we could turn our noses up at a guy with his CV.

Maybe his approach -he's NEVER wrong/ it's NEVER his fault, is a mindset the more  successful managers need to possess.   In such a cut throat industry, a manager at one of the bigger clubs or in international football would soon be ridiculed if he constantly (or even just occasionally) admits to getting it wrong.

I was moderately pleased when we appointed him as I thought he was a good manager. I was wrong though- his time had been and gone. It still amazed me quite how bad he had become.

I remember Houllier being quoted at the time. It was show boating by Ginola at an inappropriate time. That said for Houllier to blame him for non qualification is ludicrous. Fact is he couldn't get the best out of a talented and what would have been expensive/highly valued squad. The he turns up at Liverpool after France had won the World Cup under Jacquet and inferred it was in part down to him.
Houllier has got to be one of the most self deluded people in football. And there are many contenders

He also wanted the credit for Liverpool's 2005 CL victory. The fact they finished that season in 5th, 37 points behind champions Chelsea was however all Benitez's fault

It's horrible seeing two Villa legends fighting like this.

I know , so upsetting , just hope Berson and Pires dont join in , that would kill me off .
