Take Back The Game
« on: November 10, 2011, 07:39:08 PM »
Following the example of supporters planning to attend the Wolves v Sunderland game on 4th December some Villa fans have decided to plan their own protest against modern football.

At the game against Manchester United on Saturday 3rd December Villa fans plan to remain silent for the first 5 minutes of the game, we will not applaud the players on their entrance onto the pitch, we will not sing our lungs out for the side, we will not cheer any goal or heckle any refereeing decision.

In protest at rising ticket prices and the commodification of football which has priced the average fan out the game whilst lavishing riches on agents, directors and players we will show the world what football would be like without the fans.

Plans are in their embryonic stages, but the idea will be for home and away supporters to remain silent for the first 5 minutes of this match, bring banners expressing your disatisfaction at how our game has been sold off. Once the 5 minutes is up we'll launch into a chorus of a chosen song and lift the roof off VP.

Like i say this in in it's early stages so please propose any ideas.

Looks good on paper (or a website), but I just can't see enough people joining in to give it the platform it deserves.

Why not applaud the players onto the pitch? Wouldn't it be better to wait until the whistle is blown?

Legion - because that is a big noise that always comes across VP so that WILL be noticed if it didn't happen, like i said the players will also notice a difference when we erupt on 5 mins.

Good stuff mate, pass it around the lads who sit near you before the game or if there about to sing, tell them about it during it etc.

Its still in early stages so things like this will be discussed, i still think it would be better to not applaud and show the huge difference.

I hope the mancs don't, even if they do we at least show that WE love our club and don't want it to be the comercial thing that United has became.

If you dont like modern football , then dont pay for tickets to watch it.

Protests & banners will do nothing.
