He was my favourite player when he was at his best in the late 90s. There again, I was 9.

He had a kickabout with me and my mates at our local back back when he was living in Solihull and playing for the Villa; we were about 12. I remember being amazed that he had a PlayStation built into the inside of his car.

He did a penalty shoot out and for every penalty we scored against him he gave us a fiver.

Just out of interest, this is semi-pro, correct?  So does that mean he's also packing shelves at the local Asda or is he living off past earnings from us still?

Kiddy are fully professional.

He will be renewing acquaintances with Kyle Storer who some might remember him having a fight with in a friendly at Tamworth a few years ago.

How dare you tell a story that paints him a good light. He's obviously a prick because he was young, rich and flaunted it.

Hendrie was a good little player, and he enjoyed playing for the club. He had some issues off the field, but that's no surprise. I hope he does well at Kiddy.

Yes, it's easy to fall into the trap of slating him because he was 'young, rich and flaunted it' - that doesn't automatically make him a prick.  The thing about Hendrie though is he didn't need the money to be a prick, he was a natural at it.

Playing devil's advocate slightly - would attitudes to Hendrie be a bit different if he didn't have family connections to the club in Bordesley Green?

Has been playing for the Old Stars recently and saw him a few weeks ago score about five against a team of old'uns, ran them ragged really, he was yards quicker and fitter of course.
He was signing for Mark Kinsella but Kiddie made him a good offer.
Only 34, should really still be playing higher ???

talented player on his day, and suffered unfairly for the reputation he acquired. I'm not sure you can call a 15 year career on thousands of pounds a week as a disappointment but he probably has a fair few regrets. Barry Bannon take note.

I'm afraid to say, Yes.

I don't think they would in the slightest. I don't think out in the real world that his family allegiance ever got much of a mention.

Lee Hendrie from what I know (granted not a lot) is Villa through and through.
