Tourists in the North Stand
« on: November 07, 2011, 01:48:31 PM »
I enjoyed saturdays game, it was an entertaining encounter and it was refreshing to see Norwich come and have a go. They brought plenty of fans aswell, the crowd was a decent one helped by offers in the North Stand. Myself and my mate were surrounded by quite a few tourists which consisted of about 20 Japanese and several other Europeans and it was nice to see.

it is good to fill seats which would otherwise be empty and it keeps us warmer aswell keeping us away from the cold winter drafts that sweep across the otherwise empty seats. It was a bit strange because they were very excitable and many of them didn't seem to be following the game.

In one instance, just before Norwich were about to convert that free kick, two females in front of me were trying to take a photo of themselves with the pitch behind them and as they took the photo the ball went in, they were not bothered obviousley happy to get their facebook opportunity in, it pissed me off a little at the time because they didn't seem to take any notice that we had fell behind and I feared the worse for the Villa but, they were nice enough people and its good to see punters being given an incentive to attend matches it can only be good for the future if they re-visit.

Did anybody else come across such spectators?

There was a guy in the Holte End who was topless, covered in tattoos and wearing a cowboy hat. I couldn't tell you if he was foreign though.

We seem to get quite a few Scandinavians in and Frank often has German Villa fans with him at games.

Edit that: I meant the Holte End, not the North Stand.

I inhabit L1 in the Holte and I've noticed that we seem to get a fair few tourists in L2 every match. Fair play to them and let's hope that when they get home they tell their mates what a good time they had. Then maybe they will pay us a visit.
Also noticed the Danish Lions were in the Upper Holte on Saturday. Nice one lads.

There was an American guy in the Villa shop afterwards from Georgia.  He described his villa experience as "intense" and said we seem to have a lot of very angry fans.

I saw an American chap floating round the back of the Trinity. He was dressed in a military uniform and kept mumbling on about being the right hand man of the owner, and that the Villa fans are an 'ungrateful bunch of assholes'.

Don't know who he was.

A frightfully disagreeable experience I shouldn't wonder.

No but I am sure there waere plenty  who would like to!

Seriously this is good. Whenever I have been to an away match in London there are plenty of tourists so it's goos to see Eck is spreading "pleasure" across the world!

I'm an American and I always get to a couple games a year. I try to be as un-touristy as possible.  :D

Are you Tom Hanks?  He's quite good at blending in culturally.

I aim to do the same at a Chicago Bears game some time soon - trouble is that it will be freezing
