Michael Palin isn't a Villa fan, he's a very naughty boy who supports a team named after a day of the week.
As for Tom Hanks, he's never seen the Villa play and I've never seen any of his films so that's me and him sorted.
As long as he keeps on walking along red carpets in front of the worlds media holding a Villa scarf above his head he'll do for me.
If you read this Tom, when you book your ticket at Villa Park make sure it's in L1 and we'll teach you some of our songs.

Before the seasons out there will be plently of times I'd rather be stuck on that desert island with him than sitting in the Holte.

Isn't Michael Palin a Villa fan as well?

That's a new one on me.  I'm sure I've heard him in the past mention one or other of the Sheffield clubs.

Sorry, should have known that about Palin (Hangs head in shame)

To make up for it, I have waved my John Terry at Eric Clapton for being a baggie

He comes across as being a really intelligent man when interviewed So it's only natural he'd choose the Villa.

Aston Villa has a long and distinguished history as a founding member of the football league. We really should be a bit more choosy about who we allow in to support us.
It is high time we introduced some sort of membership system if people are going to support us, much like the better class golf clubs have if you want to join.
Requirement should be a nomination by an existing member, two references by respected members of the community, then an interview before the fan membership committee before acceptance is even considered.

I have supported our club for many many years and I dont just want any riff-raff turning up. Sniff sniff.

His favourite player is probably Heskey after starring alongside him in The Green Mile.

Michael Palin is a Sheffield Wednesday fan, I think he mentioned it a few times on one of his travel shows.

Can't we just be pleased that a major Hollywood Movie star wants us to win football matches above everyone else, that he mentions us frequently, Mc Grath knows it's not like he needs us for publicity is it.

It's the same with the slagging that Prince William gets on here.  And yes, whoever said it was 'inverted snobbery' got it dead right imo.
