No one should under estimate what he did for our club, he should be given the recognition he deserves while he is still alive.
Spot on, agree 110%

Not too sure about a sign in the tunnel. As someone has already said it probably wouldn't resonate with today's players.
We can't really push to have the Witton Lane renamed after him because the bloke who it was named after is still alive. As for the Witton End, would you want to have a stand that's earmarked for demolition ( sometime in the near future) named after the great man?
How about "The Holte End Saunders Stand" or "The Ron Saunders Holte End"?
Yes I can see all the "heretic how dare you" posts coming from this but it's worth thinking about. And by the way apart from Mr. McGregor, Ron Saunders is the only other persons name I'd like to see associated with the Holte End.

Ramsay is at least as deserving, and I'd say Rinder too.

We could line the tunnel with great quotes. The full Ron Saunders, Rinder about nothing but the best being acceptable for us etc.

'Do you want to bet against us?' being the final one? Or 'This is the Aston Villa football club, and it deserves nothing short of the best.'?

Absolutely!
He put a fantastic team together on a budget and made them (almost) invincible.
I consider myself lucky to have been alive to have witnessed it, wallowed in it and still be happy and proud thinking about some of the best times in the club's history.

Ron Saunders. Legend.

That's right Lee. Have a montage that builds up to the final one saying what we expect of the players.

I'm afraid most players would say "Who?"

Sadly you are right.

In fact I bet most players have to look at the name on their shirt to remember who they are actually playing for nowadays, it means that little to them.

Sounds good to me. Hope the club pick up on this.

See above. it might be quite nice to hit both teams with some history. Its just that ours would be used to it. Remind all the buggers that play at Villa Park of our importance.

From my somewhat limited knowledge of our early years i've always felt the role of Rinder is under appreciated. Does anyone know if there is any kind of tribute to him in VP?
