Obviously, clubs should pick managers, not fans. That doesn't mean, however, that clubs are always 100% right and fans always 100% wrong.

The fans that didn't want McClaren were certainly 100% right!

Unfortunately, I think the fans that didn't want McLeish will be proved right too.

Odd discussion. Fans have always debated the appointment of a new manager, and always will do. It's not unique to Villa... and I'd have said the reaction to McLeish's impending arrival was far far stronger to the suggestion of McClaren being on a shortlist of candidates. And the board didn't take the slightest bit of notice in what he majority thought of McLeish.

I think the suggestion of 'compensation' payment to 'da blues' highlights what the timeline was in the current managers appointment.

Something had obviously happened before McClaren's interview and even before Hughes resignation. Villa's distancing of themselves from both of the above was nothing to do with the reasons suggested i.e. a candidate was already good to go!

For me, coming from SHA isn't a problem.

The style ( or lack of) of football that we play, will be the determining factor.

Alongside results of course.

These media guys were also saying how good McClaren would  be for Forest, interestingly incorrect.

There are very good reasons why McLaren and Hughes weren't appointed, and if my legal team was better than theirs I'd say why.

And are they the same reasons that we ended up with McLeish?

Steve McClaren was excellent for Forest, what do the internet fans know? They are reactionaries and fools.

Hughes would have been perfect.

Get a better legal team Dave :)

Oohh that's a tasty morsel Dave!  I'm intrigued!  If we all club together for a decent lawyer would you consider spilling the beans so to speak?

Fans have a feel for a club that only a rare outsider can ever get close to, by and large though they don't have a level enough head to pick a manager.

For what it's worth I would've gone for McLeish over Hughes or McLaren anyway.

The majority that were down at VP protesting were there for the wrong reason.
