Villan church leader previews Sunderland game
« on: October 27, 2011, 11:21:30 AM »

Sunderland fan here. Leo Osborn, a Villa fan who is sort of the Archbishop of Canterbury for Methodists, has done the opposing supporter Q&A. In case anyone's interested, it's at

http://salutsunderland.com/2011/10/aston-villa-who-are-you-shankly-was-wrong-about-football-2/

He gives a plug to this site (which i shall add as a proper link)

We want different outcomes but other than that, I hope your travelling support has a good day out.

Talks a lot of sense and I only hope he has got the prediction wrong.

Could have been my answers almost word for word. Especially the point about Shankly and his twattish comment which seems to be venerated by anyone in football on a scouser sentimentality trip

A decent read, but surely he was joking when he said MON had limited resources? And I don't think anyone believes Emile cost us a title either.

good read . I wish I felt like this is the best it will get when I was at Rotterdam , I was to young and I thought at the time , we were going to be top dogs for years , how naive I was.

His signing didn't cost us a title, but after he arrived in that January 08/09 transfer window, we changed our style of play to accommodate him I thought. This is OK if his goal ratio was 1 in 2 (or 3, 4 or even 5). Sadly it wasn't and our form slipped.

While he may have cost us 4th place, it's still a bit OTT to claim he cost us a title.

I know, who'd have thought a man of religion would resort to hyperbole.

That's reserved for Paul McGrath.
