I haven't missed gerrard in midfield at all while he has been injured. I think we should continue to build the team on the younger set up. Maybe use Gerrard as more of a holding midfielder. I'm worried if we bring him back into the fold with lampard we will stifle the midfield again. They should work together but they don't.

I don't think we should use Gerrard in the Rooney position, he should now play a bit further back and let the younger players do all the running. Gabby is a great shout in his current form
Players like Carroll are the target men and wouldn't do the job Rooney does sitting behind the striker. The trouble is, no one is as good at that role as Rooney is.

Gabby's the man to replace Rooney if his form continues.

Not positionally he isn't.

I still think it'll be Gerrard, but Capello might try Young in the central role he played for us last season.

God help us if Bent and Gabby get called upon and are successful as we'll be relying on Delfoneso and Wiemann as our front 2.

I think Bent is first choice striker for England at the moment.

Rooney has been playing just behind Bent and I think the only person capable of filling that role is Steven Gerrard.

I like how Gabby has been completely ignored as a replacement for Rooney, with players like Zamora and Sturridge being mentioned. Long may it continue.

Didnt he  have an injury last game thou ..

Sorry, I meant by the media.

Left-field shout, but Joe Cole might be the man to replace Rooney. He's looking revitalised at Lille, and that interview in the Grauniad the other day showed a real maturity which has perhaps been lacking before.
