It worked for 20 minutes or so but I think after that they got on top in midfield and we were a bit overrun. I'm not one of those that think 442 can never be effective but you have to have the right type of players in centre mid and I'm not sure we do at the moment.

By the same token, we're having trouble finding the balance with the midfield three. I think Bannan's best coming off the bench at the moment and and sooner rather than later he might have to start Ireland to see what he can do.  Another idea is playing Zoggy next to the front man, with Gabby and Albrighton out wide, with Delph and Petrov in the middle.

At the expense of who, though? Gabby and Bent will always play when fit. Gentle Ben will periodically make appearances. Things look bleak for Nathan unfortunately as I rate him but it seems Weimann has jumped ahead of him in the pecking order. Weimann might get more appearances off the bench but a run of starts will take a year if not two (provided Bent doesn't upsticks before then).

He's come on in the last two games so his chances can't be that limited. I read that mcleish is considering him in midfield v man city, presumably in a 451 and if Ireland and bannan are out.

Hopefully Heskey will be in goal and Doug Ellis will be on the wing.  It's time we mixed things up around here!

Weimann seems a far better prospect than the Fonz, who despite watching him on a regular basis, does nothing for me ...  so to speak .

The Fonz does still have a decent goalscoring record for us albeit in cup competitions. Think he'll be off end of season though.

And where do you both get this wonderful knowledge of Weimann's skill as an attacking midfielder? It;s not like you will have seen him play many times as he's barely had a chance to play for us. If Bannan and Ireland are out who else can play? Heskey? Jenas on his crutches?
