0% Villa - Attendance announcements

The announcer at the Brighton vs Liverpool game read out the attendance then said how many Liverpool fans had made the trip. I like that and think they should all do it.

There seem to be a few in the lower league who do it - but I like it too.

Must admit as much as I like that I also thought how close that was to our attendence last night !

Shame we didn't get close to matching the performance from either team in this match.

Did they announce how many came from Devon?

Yeah I noticed that.

Nice touch.

I also noticed the Liverpool fans applauding the attendance announcement - probably because the stadium announcer said how many Liverpool fans were there.

I agree, every club should do it.

Could get a bit embarrasing though, when fulham take about 40 up to sunderland and wigan. An away attendance in the programme wouldn't be a bad idea, they used to do it at wigan don't know if they still do

Brighton also put on beer local to the visiting teams supporters in the away end and outside the away end the lights are the colours of the away team.

So, back in the day, we could have travelled all that way and found ourselves drinking M&B Mild?

It's the equivalent of having British cafés in holiday resorts ("We do the best best cuppa and full English in Majorca"). Cheers brighton, but I would rather drink your local piss for a change.

Stop being a miserable sod.  I'm sure you could still drink the local pish if you wanted to.   They are just trying to be acoomodating to the away fans by giving them the local comforts that they are used to.

Quite how that would work when Man Utd come to town, God only knows.

The stadium announcer is the poet and punk musician Attila the Stockbroker, who performed at the H&V reunion at the Barton's a couple of years back. When we played Brighton in the cup, he was critical of the fact that our announcer made little or no reference to the away team and fans.

Yes what happens if we play that small club in Red part of Manchester as there will be fans in our stand. So the figure will be inaccurate but nice touch though.

They could put Davenports on tap, repaint the away end in claret and blue and hoist a mural of Sir Dennis with the EC, but we our lot rock up it would still be 'wharra fockin shit 'ole...'
