It looks like I'm in a minority but I thought Liverpool were excellent against Brighton, the movement of all the players was light years ahead of what's seen at VP regularly.

But...that was Brighton. How can you say they're going to be that great on the basis of a win against Brighton?

I assuming you only watched the first 40 odd minutes? Because after that Brighton were the better side and created the most chances with only suspect finishing letting them down.

Talking of that match, a scouse fan at work told me that during KK's after match interview when he was asked to comment on Brightons performance, he said he is only paid to promote Liverpool and will only discuss them or words to the same effect. First of all, what an arse, and secondly, if I was the interviewer, the next words out of my mouth would have been "So can you tell me why £100 mil of talent struggled against a Championship side?"

Much as - just like 12 months ago - it is great to revel in Liverpool's supposed inadequacies, they will inevitably end up qualifying for Europe through their league position and be there ore thereabouts in the the later stages of at least one of the domestic cups, i.e. all the things that we're unlikely to do.

They were over-hyped in the first couple of weeks of the season, but they're a good enough team, certainly compared to us.

I don't think they will make top 4 this season, and let's face it anything less is a failure after all the money spent.
I just don't think KD is good enough anymore, set in his old school ways, living in the past, Liverpool need to move forward not recreate the past,
I do think Carrol will come good, bit his other signings are average, and as I said at the time anyone who spends 20mill on Downing is not going to be building a top 4 side, but we shall have to wait and see.

Either way they are still in a better position than us, but i'l still be hoping they fail (again) this season, as I don't like them and never have.

Carroll, Downing and Henderson are ok players but nowhere near worth their price tags. Carroll in particular is hugely over rated. He's an old fashioned centre forward, perhaps worth £10m. I can only assume they agreed to pay Newcastle £35m because Chelsea agreed to pay them an equally outrageous £50m for Torres, and it was the last day of the transfer window.

For the third year in a row, the idiot gloryhunting wannabe scousers at work have offered me free money by betting on then finishing top four again. Is it really only two years since I was arguing for days on end on here against people predicting that they would finish top 4 forever more?

The only thing I remember you arguing more was that they'd go into financial meltdown

*wink*

More than the "proper right back" argument?!  I think not.

People saying that the bloke who plays as a specialist right-back for the Dog and Duck on Sunday mornings is better than any  non-specialist right-back professional footballer in that position is not really an argument though, is it?
