There's always a bit of romance about signing a player for peanuts from a lower league team or from a lower ranking league, if he's anywhere near as good as the last full back we signed that was'nt a recognised premier league player then i'll be happy.

It's the enda the world as we know it.

What a depressing summer for all Villa fans. The worse since the close season of 1985.

We're going one way and one way only.

Good luck Enda, but this club ain't what it used to be.

Kevin Doyle, Shane Long and Wes Hoolihan of Norwich were all bought from Irish league clubs for pittance and then sold on at a huge profit. Long in particular only cost Reading 60,000 pounds a few years ago, they sold him to West Brom for 7m. Paul McGrath started his career at St. Patrick's Athletic so don't be too sceptical!

If we start being linked with a player called Ontil next I am going to start getting suspicious.

''He sounds like he should be Prime Minister of New Zealand'', mate of mine sent me that when I told him who we signed.

Sounds like a Sun headline for Shakin' Steven's retirement. If he becomes as big a cult hero as Eamonn Deacy that will do for me.

I am fairly confident that "there's only one Enda Stevens" may have an element of truth in it.

I'm still working on a quip about getting our Enda away.
