Are people serious here?  It was a throw away line probably after he was asked a question about Heskey.  It's not like he said it was his intended plan.

Get over it.

He can't head a ball to save his life he has no sense of timing so how?
He probably heads more balls away defending corners than Dunne & Collins

O'Neill asked Heskey to play CB before one game a couple of years ago & he walked out.

Considering all the things there are to moan about at the club this is scraping the bottom of the barrel and a waste of my hard strapped reading of moans time.

This is not aided by the fact that the thread title has absolutely no clue as to what is contained therein so I have to click on it to find out if we have signed some shite player or if we have let another one go.

I really don't think we will see Heskey at centre back in the immediate future at Villa.

I'm a major fan of Mr. Heskey.   Which bit of the last 11 games featuring him didn't you like?

Exactly. It is easier to head away from goal then towards it as there is slightly more space to aim for.

So it was Heskeys fault that the manager never subbed in when he had run himself into the ground.

He'd have rings ran around him. Hopefully he'll be back at Blues by then.

Here's hoping

Why does AM have to come out with such bollocks?

Anyone who has seen Heskey jump for the the ball 10 minutes before it arrives/after it has gone and his tackl;e near the end on Sat would know that a centre half he aint

Why not? Talking shite seems to be de rigueur round these parts, maybe he's just joining in the fun.

Love his goals, his assists and the holding up thing.  Totally unselfish and up for the villa and the team.

Also found this on wiki:

Heskey plays as a forward with pace, being a powerful targetman with physical strength and is hard working.[2][79][118] His play has been likened to "a blunt instrument with which to bludgeon defences".[119] His main contributions to the team lie in the way he holds the ball up and draws defenders out, leaving space behind him for another player to score.[79] He has been credited as being an unselfish player who allows other forwards to benefit.[120] He is not a prolific goalscorer but is able to provide a significant amount of assists.[121] He has been quoted as saying "Forwards are judged on their goalscoring. But I like to think I bring a lot more to the game and I do get pleasure from assisting".[122] He impressed the England staff with his versatility, as he can also play down the left wing.[123] However, he has been criticised by the media for his lack of goals;[124][125] lapses in his goalscoring have been described as being "hardly uncommon".[126] In 2008 it was stated that "It is only the perception of his talents that changes" after Heskey stated he was no better or worse than before.[127

Heskey  may one day "Fill in at centre half" Surely Aston Villa F C  will not hit rock bottom for that to happen!

Pleased you said probably as  this  statistically is not correct and in  any case being there to stop opposition attackers from having a free  go at the ball is a little bit different from playing CB as a job. Paul McGrath please look away if that ever happens.
