It's a sad day for this club, not only losing this defensive titan but also coming to realise that we just cannot compete with the Hull City's of this world.

I agree but also think we can't stand in the way of a player who wants the chance to play CL football, after all this time with us.

Keep him. He's our best right back.

As President of the Official Habib Beye Fan Club, if Villa sell him, I'm off to Hull. He was always too good for the Villa and you know it.

When he first joined the Villa - Habib was going to rent my friends house (who'd moved to Dubai) in Four Oaks. Deal was all done and about to be signed only for  Habib's wife to turn up unannounced with a tape measure to check the size of the garage as he was worried his Ferrari wouldn't fit inside. Apparently it didn't so they pulled out.

Says it all really......let's hope they have bigger garages in Hull!

After waiting patiently for his chance, Habib has wowed this season with his appearances.  And yet it appears this was just a ruse by the management to once again part with one of our best players.  I'm fuming.

If he is allowed to leave, that will be it for me as far as the Villa are concerned.  Finished.

I remember bumping into him at a very nice hotel in bar in Brum about 18 months ago. He was there with Young and Petrov, plus their other halfs... Young and Petrov were pretty professional, drinking cokes while Beye was doing shots! Sums him up really.

In an age of money grabbing mercenaries, the type who are only interested in the next Ferrari or Bentley - Habib Beye reminds us of older values.  Of a time when a player would just play for the shirt, desperate to make the fans happy.

Villa fans used to have a famous song My Eyes Have Seen The Glory (that Tottingham have since rogered to death and claimed as their own).  Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever see us win the  FA Cup again -never mind reclaim the outright record.

But at least I can say I witnessed Monday, Tuesday Habib Beye at his majestic best.

I'm sure it's not true but *if* he does he go, then a little part of me will die. :(

Still, thanks for all of the awesome memories, Monsieur Beye.

Ran Downing close for player of the season last year. Top professional, hope he plays great for Hull if he goes. Sad day for the club.
