Speaks volumes about his lack of fitness more than ability imo.

Anyway, I wish Cyrille Regis was still banging them in somewhere like Frickley. He's not, is he?

I was commenting more on why the media keep persisting with this idea that he was hard done by at Villa last season.  He was ineffective on the occasions he played for us, whereas Benteke was on fire and that is the simple reason why he didn't play all that much.

Newcastle Jets marquee player, Emile Heskey, missed tonight's match against Sydney. Poor old Emile got taken out in a preseason friendly. In his absence, the less acclaimed Alessandro del Piero was the star of the show...

Michael Bradley scores the winner as Roma break the record for the most consecutive wins from the start of a Serie A season.

I went to Watford v Derby last week. That Dawkins fella who sat on the Villa bench from Jan to May came on as a sub.

Yeah watched them at Carlisle Saturday, Shorey was ok Williams looked poor and Harewood got 3 mins at the end. Jay Emmanuel Thomas looked a player though, like a mini Benteke  ;D but there again he was only up against my beloved Cufc

Brad Friedel becomes the oldest player to ever play in the UEFA Cup (or it's various other forms) at the age of 42.

Well done him.

Ash young was back in action but  getting a lot of stick v Chelsea today  they obviously saw him as a danger man .
I think he should have played behind wellbeck in free role roaming as the missing of Rooney and rvp set u p young to play there .

Apparently Ash reckons speed limits don't apply if the road's quiet!

Getting done for way over the limit 2 months after receiving 6 points for the ton ( I thought that was an automatic ban ?) is either stupid, arrogant or a mix of the two.

From the Guardian:

Former Manchester United Aston Villa midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba joins St Mirren
• 32-year-old signs for St Mirren until the end of the season
• Cameroon international set for debut against Dundee United

St Mirren have announced the signing of the former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba.

The 32-year-old, who has been assigned No99, passed a medical on Wednesday afternoon and has agreed a deal with the Buddies until the end of the season.

The Cameroon international joined United in 2003 but failed to live up to his potential and later moved to Aston Villa. He has since had spells at Qatar SC, the Danish side Odense and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel before moving to Partizan Belgrade last summer.

However, his stint in Serbia lasted just six months as he was released after making 14 appearances. He could make his St Mirren debut in Sunday's Scottish Cup match against Dundee United.

He must be either very brave or very skint

Could you imagine being a black player in Belgrade  :o  Not the most welcoming of places is it
