I share many a pint with Gareth Barry's father in law and he tells me he would have crawled on hands and knees to come back to us after his falling out at City.

was there a proper falling out or just not in favour any more?

According to Sky Sports, Kevin Poole is on the bench for Burton Albion today. He's 50.

Fair play. Wasn't he once on our books?

Davies was quality today. He's looked good for Bruce so far. I think the drop down to play regularly has helped him. This is the sort of age where he's got to find consistency and it's looking good at the moment.

The latter, surely. He clearly isn't too old enough to be playing for a decent Premier League side.
Just too old to play for Lambert.

In the 80s. Fine shot stopper, but on the small side for a goalie. He made two of the best saves I've ever seen, from Kevin Speedie of Chelsea. Arse that Speedie was he still shook Poole's hand after both saves.

It's amazing he's had a 32 year career but only played just over 400 games. But yeah, his height may have been an issue.

Yes, which is probably why he's popped up in the "ex-villa players still playing" thread!!

Barry Bannan not even in the squad for Palace today. Not injured, just dropped. A close family member is best mates with him, going out on the town with him in Liverpool tonight, tells me there was a huge bust up in the Palace dressing room at half time last week. Punchers were thrown and all that jazz.

They're doomed I tell ya, doomed.

I always rated Davies, never understood why he was sold, he was a first team regular, did his shoulder, couldn't get back in the team when he was fit again, so he was sold. He's been somewhat unlucky with his career.

Dunney's been different class for QPR so far. My R's mate is chuffed to bits, because I didn't really give Dunney much of a recommendation. But he's playing every week, looking fit again and has been rock solid for them. He apparently looks a cut above at that level. I'm glad our defence is doing well though, particularly our central defenders, because I'd hate to open up the "we shouldn't have let Dunne go" can of worms. lol.

Bannan is a waster to be honest. I don't think he'll ever make it at the top level. His head aint screwed on for this business. I think he'll piss his talent away down the leagues, year on year. Can honestly see him playing non-league within 5 years.

Although he is only on loan so not technically an ex-player yet, I see Bent got a goal yesterday.  I must admit I am becoming tired of the media still constantly questioning why he didn't play for us regularly last season.  Despite him scoring yesterday, I think the fact that he couldn't get into the starting XI for a really struggling Fulham side speaks volumes really.
