Tamworth v Villa tonight
« on: August 04, 2011, 05:22:10 PM »
Just opened the Tamworth Herald to see a big advert for this match ko 7:30. Apparently it will feature all of the first-teamers who didn't play at Derby last night. I haven't heard a whisper about this game till today and at 8 quid entrance I'm trogging off down the Lamb very shortly!  :D

Doubt there will be many 1st teamers involved as we have a game in portugal in less than 48 hrs -probably just saying that to get you there-id be very surprised if it wasnt virtually the youth team.

Im sure our good friend mr cooper will be there and if reading this dave , where will your loyalties lie?
Ive just bought a couple of villa tracksuit tops from a mrs cooper on ebay -not yours are they dave?

On the Villa site a day or 2 ago it definitely said "second" string so it'll be interesting to see.
I thought last night's team pretty much fitted that description with a few exceptions - Bent/Delph/Ireland/Makoun who probably all needed a bit more game time than the others not played.
I would expect to see a lot of the kids tonight.

I won't, I don't finish work on time.
News from the Tamworth camp is that they are not expecting a first team but have been 'promised' a couple of big names, don't get your hopes up too high! But do go, and do spend lots of money, ta.

No eastie, not mine, I don't think I've ever owned a pair.

Barton?  Have we signed him then?  Would be funny if we had and put him straight into this match!

Marshall must feel like a baby sitter.

Kevin MacDonald is in charge for this game, Villa are classing it as a reserve game.

Won 2-1, Johnson and Burke.

I never doubted McLeish.

The title is ours for the taking.

Chas n' Dave Cooper is suspiciously quiet this evening. Normally he won't stop talking. Rabbit, rabbit, etc...

I've answered this before on here and the mailing list.

In a friendly I wouldn't really sway either way, the game doesn't matter.

In a cup game? It's a win/win situation isn't it? Tamworth win and it's a great bit of giantkilling and the best result in the club's history, Villa win and it's a step towards Wembley. Good either way.
I would probably get a ticket with the Tamworth fans simply because they are the guys I've been going to matches home and away with for the last few years (although last season, for the first time in ages, I went to more Villa games, mostly because of selling fanzines for Dave W.)

But surely that would be tempered with it being the worst Cup result in Villa's history on par with Blues V Kiddy/Aldershot.
