I think we should knock it down and build a bigger version of Holte End with extra facilitates like museum, as there is no road cutting through the corner. Then it could be awesome.

That's what I reckon.  Long range vision: The North Stand is a mirror image of the Holte End and Witton Lane is a mirror image of the Trinity.

On another forum the General said that they were still mulling over designs and were even thinking of laying a practice pitch on the spare land at the north end of the ground.  Whatever we do, surely we could get Genting to get involved and help us to work on revenue streams the new facility could generate?

Compared to the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, etc. we are in an incredibly fortunate position in that we don't need to relocate/completely rebuild in order to significantly increase our capacity.  My view would be that we get started now on rebuilding that end and making our facilities top notch, it would be a real statement of intent and it would give us a head start on those clubs around us.

Give the back of it a bloody good scrub and leave the development for another day.

I'd go for this. Rename it the Witton End aswell.

Ron Saunders stand ?

Each time I see it on TV it looks horrendous, it's far too old and we need a new stand built.

Maybe we could build just a 1-tier stand and have the corners filled in around the Doug Ellis Stand and Trinity Road Stand... that would look good and would probably make the atmosphere better.

The North Stand used to look so impressive when I first started following villa just before the development of the new Holte End. But it looks hideous next to the new Trinity and it would be great to replace it with something that pays tribute to Villa Park's heritage.

However, would we fill it? Could we afford it? A rebuild could be a catalyst for a new era with cheap tickets and full stadium or it could see us stagnate as transfer funds are directed to the stand's construction. Tough call.

North Stand does need at least a lick of paint, but I'm sure RL must be thinking why invest in the North Stand when we dont fill the ground at the moment anyway. Wouldnt surprise me if this put on the back burner for a few seasons, so the least they could do is give us our screen back.

There is tesco with 3 minutes walking distance. So it is not needed.

It isn't really though, we just need to go back 30-odd years and look at what happened the last time we built a stand that we couldn't afford (even though redeveloping back then was a necessity, unlike today).  We paid the price a few years later and the team suffered as a result.

I think we'd be mad to knock it down personally.  Besides, I really like it.

It's tired, it's had it's day and I'll be glad to see the back of it.

The entrance is an eye sore, like something you'd expect to see in Poland or the old East Germany. Anytime interviews or vox pops are conducted with that (or the equally hideous Villa Village)  as a backdrop I cringe.

I'd be all for ripping it down yesterday -and whatever form the replacement takes, I hope they learn from the mistakes of that stand.  It looked dated after about 20 years - the Trinity still looked impeccable after 80.

I'm just not sure we can justify the cost or any real notions of expansion at present. If ever they were going to do it, it would have been when we looked like we were on the up around 2007/08. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.

Of course, the likes of Citeh and Slumberland boosted capacity when they weren't regularly selling out at the time (though in their case it was via completely new venues) so there is that argument.  And building costs will most likely be cheaper now than say in 5/10+ years.

But given a choice, I'd rather see money invested in the team. I know it shouldn't necessarily be one or t'other. But it usually is.

Does anyone know whether our corporate facilities are sold out on match days?
Whilst a bigger total attendance might not be viable an extra restaurant/museum and shop could generate enough cash to make the redevelopment viable.

Just moving the villa village would free up enough space sell off/lease that area of our land to a tesco/pertol station or whatever.

I probably still have the drawings gathering dust and mouse shit in my loft of the scheme the firm I worked for prepared for the site.   I have mentioned before that it was a low budget hotel on the side facing away from the pitch and seating on the pitch side.

When it gets done it will almost certainly be multi use and in my opinion it could work well.  A developer would need a much more bullish economy than that which we are going through presently to get such a project built so I think the make over option for now is the wise move with a big push when the economic pendulum swings back to the position which has the money men rushing forward not running away.

In passing, a spur road giving direct access to the motorway system would very substantially increase the land value.   In Randy's position I would be quietly buying any bits of land between VP and the motorway or alternatively swapping a share of the action for the available land.
