The price of Emile Heskey
« on: July 15, 2011, 07:29:25 AM »
A couple of questions about Emile.

1. How much has it cost per goal?
2. Why did MoN put him on such a high wage.
3. is there another Premiership club out there stupid enough to take him off our hands?

Maybe someone will take him off our hands but only if we pay them.

Controversial statement but I thought he was excellent up until he got injured last season. We'd get no fee for him and have already lost a lot of experience. I'd keep him unless we are clearing the way for a really top striker

i too thought he was excellent till he got injured, it was a shame it was for about 6 games and then back to the labouring lump he has been since coming here!

No sell on fee maybe but we'd save £65000 a week on his wages making over £3m a year.

What's happened to the Leicester interest, they can afford him now.

Maybe he isn't deemed good enough ?

1. Probably A (daylight) Robbery (figure).
2. He was deployed as a defensive striker, an unique position in football.
3. Don't think so.

He's been here 30 months.

He's scored 14 goals.

If he's on 65k a week, that is £288,600 a month when you factor in NI.

288,600 * 30 = £8,658,000

Throw on top of that his transfer fee of £3,500,000 and that makes his cost £12,158,000

This equates to £868,428 per goal.

In actual fact, those figures re the cost will lower than the actual figure as he'll no doubt have received signing on money, win bonuses etc etc etc.

Assuming he sits out the final year of his contract, peacefully grazing on a patch of grass at BMH, that will be another £3,463,000 in salary costs, which will bring his total cost to £15,621,200 plus whatever he has cost in other payments.

Amazing bit of business, that.

He was 10 times better under Houllier than O'Neill, but kept getting injured last season.

The problem is wages

If he's got 18 months left at 50k per week, why go to leicester for 20k

Same with beye

1 year left a 42K per week so that was 8 million well spent

But he's great at holding the ball up.

Loved being at Molineux when he scored the winner.

Heskey was the man to fire us in to the Champions League, remember?
