Until we know whether McGinge can 'turn around' players like Warnock, Dunne and Ireland; and until the Downing thing is sorted, it's difficult to speculate.
We need a keeper - I'd like Robinson; we'll get Given.
We need a RB - would like Walker; we'll get Hutton.
We need some extra fire power on the flanks - would like to keep Downing; we'll get N'Zogbia.
We don't need cover upfront (Gabby, Weimann, Delfouneso; in that order) - but if we do buy, I'd take a gamble on Kalinic (Blackburn).

All other positions are covered .... if last season's renegades are up for a serious contribution next season. If they're not, then McGinge has a very busy summer ahead.

Based on the above the starting line-up might look like this:

                                                                                       Given

Hutton    Dunne     Clark      LY / Warnock

                                                                         Makoun                Delph

                                                N'Zogbia / Albrighton         Ireland         Downing

                                                                                         Bent

Not a bad starting 11 - potentially solid  - and with back-up from Collins, CC (when fit), Bannan, Petrov, Baker, Lichaj, Gabby, Weimann and GG.
Still potentially light in goal re back-up (Guzan or Siegrist?) and still lacking a world-class midfielder.

All hangs on the renegades and Downing, though.

Geez i wouldn't like to go all season with that midfield, NRC may not have been the dogs bollocks but he was hard at it and put the effort in, relying on a midfield that wasn't good enougn last year and losing a good contributor we are very light on and will get overun.

This is true.  I also can't help thinking that we'll be looking at a few more modest signings and trying to get something out of the fringe players so that we can focus on one big signing.

Get Given instead of Foster, give Warnock a chance instead of buying a LB, etc.  And then make a serious move for someone like Milner.

TTV: "Sturridge would be a great buy".
So would Messi but it ain't going to happen is it?
Sturridge was apparently valued at £20m recently after an enquiry by The Best Supported Club in the World - and I suspect his wage demands, which were high when he moved to Chelsea, would be astronomic.
We ain't in that space any more (if we ever were!).

Depending on how much money we can spend.

  Goalie......... Foster,   or Given

LB  Enrique, or Wigan guy, but would also have a look at the Swansea LB

  RB...Walker,

  CB.......Samba/Dann  or Boyota on loan

  DM....Parker or Capoute?

Wingers......N'Zogbia for definate, and then Jarvis/Phillips/Sinclair.

Would definately get Canales on loan as well.
