Yeah, although we do have a glut of centre mids, and still need 1 quality one (like Parker)

No and let's face it he wasn't that good when he  was here.

He may be free but I'd rather keep the salary money for better players.

That's the problem isn't it? I fear Villa are now firmly back in 'beggars can't be choosers' territory.

On a free it'd make sense. Nige gone, Petrov's legs going. He's got a goal in him and can cover left back.

Not the player he was.
But he could never tackle and had limited passing.
If the opposition close him down to stop his long range shots then he's got nothing to offer.

Is he could enough to be in our first 11? Yes. Should we be getting better? Yes. I'd prefer Parker, for what he'd offer, but certainly, as a squad option I'd love to have Tommy back. He's improved since he left us. He did well for West Ham when finally over his injury.

We're very short in centre midfield right now, so we do need 1-2. Petrov is past it. I think Makoun will come good, while Delph and Bannan are potentially very good, but still unproven. For free, he'd be a good signing indeed. He might be a bit cumbersome, but he's tidy on the ball, obviously as we know he has a thunderbolt shot, and his set pieces are decent.

I agree, but with Friedel, Carew, NRC, Salifou, Osbourne and Pires now off the wage bill, we could afford to bring him in on maybe a two year contract?

Avoid. A pointless signing.

Not good enough. Gardner lite. Great shot not much else.

No.  Wasn't good enough when he was here before and we've moved on massively since.

Spelling his name properly would be a start. Anyway, not for me.

Yes. He'd be well received, is a good player, a ton of experience including over 50 caps for Germany. He's no longer starting material but he'd be a solid squad member and an all round good person to boot. He'd be a good influence on the younger players and furthermore he can even slot in at LB in a pinch. He likely wouldn't cost the earth either. And let's be honest we would all love to see one or two more of his bombs bulging the net a few more times!

Exactly how I see it.
