The borough is ours.

Villa colonialism, first the City, and now as we speak, we're settling the streets of Shirley.

The next phase is to take modern science to the heathen folk of the Black Country.

I live in Coseley, about 80% Wolves but i have noticed quite a few Villa shirts. More than Olbion. Never seen anyone wearing a Small Heath shirt here tho. Thats in 3 years. Its great.

Oi! some of us were doing this 30 years' ago! Maz in Hall Green, several of us in the Solihull area; plenty in the Knowle, Warwick, Leamington area. It was tough, which is why eventually I had to get right away - for rehabilitation purposes.

Biggest problem with Solihull in the 1970's was more from ManUre fans than Bluenoses, actually. The Elmdon Reds, as they were called.

If it turns out anything like Star City, I'm going to give it a wide berth: For the first couple of years it'll be booming and then after that it'll sit there, gathering dust. Until everyone forgets about it.

I love this Star City Casino press blurb from when they opened

But it’s entertainment, Las Vegas style that catches the eye and will capture the imagination of a wider audience. Recreating a superb and intimate party atmosphere, The Vegas Experience at Star City Casino goes live from 8pm with dinner and plays again from 11.45pm featuring a midnight champagne buffet.

In our purpose built theatre environment, The Vegas Show Bar, a roll call of stars from music, comedy and TV will perform using the latest sound and lighting technology.

Forthcoming attractions include, Gwen Dickey’s Rose Royce, the fabulous Boney M, comedian Bobby Davro, The New Drifters, The Grumblweeds, Hale and Pace, The Beijing Chinese Acrobats and stunning tributes to Nat King Cole and Shirley Bassey.

No need, brother. There's plenty of us already.

On behalf of Silhillians/South Side Villa etc, I welcome Genting to the 'Borough'.

Wipe your feet before you come in, there's good boys.  We have a reputation you know.

The Rags' big dream for the world beating, 350k capacity stadium (which would not be bid enough) was all wrapped up in the casino bid wasn't it ?
And now this, we partner with the company who will bring massive investment to the NEC and the city, and they remain in the shit heap that is the sty.
You couldn't make it up !!

I used to work at a couple of their casinos before Genting took over, as well as a few of their competitors.

They're all the same, and I'd never go back. And I certainly won't be wearing an advert for them.

Harrumph. Etc.

Those are some pretty big figures that the punters of Solihull and its environs will be losing at the tables.

Personally, if I had the money to burn I would find it more fun going on drink and women than the turn of a card or spin of a wheel.

I suppose the good thing about having a casino at the NEC is that a lot of the money wasted there will be by visitors, rather than locals.
