Why are there categories for "European Cup Final 1982", "Peter Withe European Cup Final 26th May 1982" and "European Cup Glory"?

One of the best days in recent seasons, was the 2-1 victory over The special one's Chelsea, the one where Herbert was grinning at Roman as he walked out.

Superb atmosphere and there was a real feeling on the day that we were finally going places.

Beating Small Heath is better than winning the European Cup. How small time are we?

Agreed, that's just embarrassing. And probably has a lot to do with the age and mentality of villa fans voting.

So many more games i could think of -

Ajax, Atletico, Inter, Tranmere, 2 cup finals in the 90's, arsenal '96 semi, blackburn 6-4, everton 3-2, first win @ Old stratford for 26 yrs. Reading in the FAC qtr, anderlecht @ home, barca - super cup,
You don't really need to mention the european cup win, that should be a no brainer!!

I was hoping small heaths relegation would start to revert Villa fans thinking of them with the insignificance they deserve but - i guess not.

Beating Man U 1- 0 away a few seasons back was quite special too especially after we plucked defeat from the jaws of victory the season before.

It's a bit depressing though if we're nominating this as our "one moment in time" - it means that they've got more moments in time than they know what to do with considering our record against them recently.

For one moment in time I thought it was too.

You're probably nearer the truth than you think.  You only have to see how accepting some of us are to Young going to them.

ManU, though it it pains me to say it are the bench mark now and have been for the last 20 years or so.

To split the vote so that a post-1992 Sky game would win.

How friggin' sad.
5-1 Liverpool Dec 15th 1976, along with the 2-0 vs Liverpool in 1981, a defining moment in the title chase.
And of course Rotterdam.
Oh, and seeing the Michel Platini inspired Juve at VP.
And actually the Lge Cup win in 1994 was pretty special, given the odds on ManUre winning it.

5-1 against the ASBO-served neighbours is great but incidental given our history.

I would go with that plus:

Bournemouth/Andy Lochead
Everton/League Cup/Old Trafford
Man U/League Cup Semi-Final
Can't argue with your additions, MSV; nerve-tingling even now as I think of them.

I'd stick with moments in games that I was actually at for this sort of thing - nothing beats being there to feel the excitement - that 5-1 over the Blues doesn't come close.  For me, in no particular order

Kent Nielsens goal against Inter Milan
Phil Kings penalty against Inter Milan
Dalian Atkinson's goal in front of the Holte against TranmereGary Cahills goal at the Holte against Blues
Deano's penalty to make it 3-1 on 1994 league cup final

For me this was the most dramatic game I ahve ever been to and given I had almost given up on our chances at the time, I don;t think I have celebrated a goal more other than 82. Can't believe this wasn't in the top 3.
