Always liked him. I would say that the way it's going he may be one of our 'key players' which, as much as i like him, is a bit of a disappointment in actual fact. If that makes sense.

I rate Young quite highly.  I think he is one of the better English full backs around and would have gone to the World Cup had he not retired from international football.  He sometimes dives in a bit but is very tough in the tackle and seems very committed to the cause.  I hope we give him another couple of years at the club.

I see what your saying, because he's not an exciting big name? Most of my faves are the Ash Young types becuase of the name and the flicks and tricks etc. I do have a lot of time for L Young though, have done since he was at Charlton

It's amazing how much more solid we look when he plays - he covers the CB really well. An intelligent and reliable defender.

Very reliable right and left back. He is a must keep. And would have no problem him starting as a first team player .....

I rate him and reckon we should play him regularly. With money tight his position would be way down on my list of replacements needed.

Decent, solid player who is in the squad and maybe the team.

If we are determined to operate on the cheap then he is the kind of experienced, solid pro we need to help the young players.

He has no left foot, can't understand people who prefer him there. When him and Ashley played together on the left, the amount of times both checked inside onto their right narrowed the pitch so much. He's a steady-eddie, obviously on a lot of money (can't see why else he turned down Liverpool last August) prone to the odd positional blunder. Good attitude, decent tackler, exposed for pace now and then. I thought he was out of contract this summer. If not, I'd rather we let him run out his deal and gradually integrate Lichaj in that position.

No problems with Luke for me. Solid player. Does his job well and is reliable. Him and Lichaj as right backs is good enough for me. I don't think it's a position we've a pressing need to fill. We have to spend wisely this summer, and we're covered on the right side of defence IMO.

Been watching the yank Lichaj a lot lately and have been very impressed with his progress.
His confidence has grown immensely and i'm hoping he can continue to improve. Could solve our problem.

Never rated him tbh, decent bloke, gives 100%, but not very good going foward, not quick enough for the modern game, better at LB, but on high wages, and for me would rather try and develop Licjah.

Better at rightback but a very capable left back too, purely from a defensive point of view.

If Walker was coming back I'd be happy enough to see Luke at LB again. He played a big part in our upturn in form from Everton away onwards. Possibly not one for the future, but we already have plenty of gaps in the side as it is. Address them first and maybe look at the thing again in 12 months.

Think at the point we signed him he was one of the best full backs in the Premiership.
