He's got a fair chance of a regular place if he stays though.

At £3m he'd be a bargain for most Premier League sides. I'd prefer he stayed with us rather than give him away at that price.

He's our best defender and it would be ridiculous to sell him for any less than we paid for him.

And we shouldn't even do that, we should be putting him at centre-half.

Letting Cuellar go is a mistake waiting to happen.

Am surprised we are talking about letting him go without a replacement but that seems to sum Villa up at the moment.

For me Cuellar and Clark should start at centre half

Thought this warranted a new thread alright. I posted on the transfer thread:

Carlos Kickaball will cost a lot more than £1.5m or even £3m to replace, I'd rather keep hold of him. He's got his faults but his positioning is better than Collins, and he's not as exposed to pace as much as Dunne. Plus, his attitude is top-notch.

should be given a proper try as a center half that is for sure, at the very minimum he is a decent squad player.

I don't think we should sell him, he's a quality player and we don't need to be replacing another position.

Isn't it funny how after their first seasons everyone would have sold Downing & Cuellar, now everyone is hoping they stay.

it would be disappointing to see him go that's for sure. He's a good player and by all accounts a good person. I don't think anyone can give a good reason why after the Wolves game where he was very good indeed he rarely saw action again. Especially given how poorly the Dunne/Collins partnership worked out for a good chunk of the season. Still, it's also easy to gloss over the fact that he had very poor distribution, and there has to be a very good reason why experienced managers like MON or GH didn't give him as much playing time as we thought he deserved, or played him out of his natural position.

He obviously has a lot of time for Rangers, and he was a massive success there. Again shame if he goes but understandable.

Do you not get the impression he has told Eck he wants to go back to Rangers?

Woefully under used by successive management. Great bloke by the seems of it too.
