Gary Mac goes, Sid stays. Some good news at least - the club aren't totally insane.

Good.

Would have pissed the supporters off even more if Mr Lerner Sir had allowed McLeish to jettison him.

Good news.

They don't have the balls to let him go after the appointment of BigEck.

I don't think we should be treating this as good news at all. It should be a given.
Sid should be thought of as the crown jewells with a job for life at the club. he has more credit in the bank than practically anyone else connected with the club now.
Regardless of who the manager is, Sid should always remain and the club should not need to tell us.

Of course it is good news.

If they hadn't said anything we'd have seen a hundred posts of the type that goes "OMG it's a disgrace, the bastards are treating us with contempt, they never tell us anything, let's have a protest" .

Bollocks.

It is a given, according to Dave W he was told early on that his job was safe whoever was appointed. This is just making sure that everyone else is aware of it as you know as well as I do that if they didn't there would be speculation.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Thats a good bit of news on Sid. Any mention of what will happen with K-Mac?

G-Mac left with grace. I wonder what the reaction of Dunne and Collins was on hearing that Duverne had also left the training ground.

Oh I forgot... thats another twenty pint all nighter.....

So has he gone back to his old job? He's rapidly becoming one of those things that you inherit when your move into a new house, like a hibernating tortoise that they didn't want to move for fear of killing it.
That is apt for Deadly, but i don't share your view of Sid as something of a burden as you've described above, he is a valuable asset that if removed would only be detrimental to the club.

It might be a good idea for him to sign a new 'keeper aswell.

I think that will be very high on his list Leeg. Safe to say, even if you doubt his abilities as a manager, he'll still be employing a goalkeeper in his first XI :)

Dave Watson really helped Hart, and has done a very good job with Foster. I think having a coach of that repute will aid our search for a keeper. It might also allow us get someone like Rob Green who'd be a lot cheaper than Foster, but is still at an age that with the right encouragement and coaching can ressurect his career like Paul Robinson has.

Interesting point of view. I would be reluctant to spend more than 10 million on a defender and keepers when we need a winger, a creative mid, holding mid and left and right backs. Green for 2 million, Mills from the Championship and someone like Al Habsi to battle Green might serve us better than Dann and Foster for 20 million.

Doubt we need two keepers. Guzan as back up is fine imo providing the keeper we sign isn't injured often.
