I would take Larsson and Mcfadden.

Larsson would be a great option down the right hand (Defence or Midfield) side superb crosser, excellent athlete dead ball specialist.

Mcfadden was probably their biggest loss last season as he was the one who would retain possession and create space and chances up front for them. I have a feeling he would link very well with Bent when he ghosts into space.

Jesus wept.
We're entering endgame now.

If Owen Hargreaves and Jon Woodgate could stay fit, they'd be great.  NRC, I have a feeling he'll end up at Newcastle United.

Don't think there's too much there of any real interest to us.

Larsson, Carew, NRC and Upson are all good players though and will do well for someone.

The West Ham fans, to a man, absolutely hated Upson last season. Apparently he was completely and utterly dreadful. Whatever he had, he's obviously lost it. Could see him going back to the Sty but only if he's willing to take an 80% pay cut.

Why? I didnt suggest we build the team around them but as free transfers I reckon they represent good additions to the squad. The saving we make on the fees we can put towards a quality signing (or managerial compo!)

Surprised Zoltan Gera and Jason Koumas have been released by Fulham and Wigan. I wouldn't want them at Villa but they're decent players that you'd think could do a decent job at those clubs.

McLeish would be well advised getting Reo Coker back in. He will need some loyalists pretty quickly in that dressing room. He is the kind of fiery character that he could do with on his side.

Some decent players in that list. Some fall for Carew and Upson from 12 months ago. Reckon Upson would still be a solid enough defender at EPL level. His confidence obviously went to pieces after the World Cup.
