Yes. I was quite looking forward to seeing what Villa would be like with a full preseason and summer of his signings. And yes, he did piss me off a lot last season.

I would love to know what players he wanted to buy.

Without a shadow of a doubt. He'd been planning all season for this Summer's business.

The Guardian reported we had two players lined up already.

I've been told he had a list of gettable signings that would have turned us into top four contenders.

Don't say things like that, Dave.

If he was fit yep. I'm not really sure what the timescale for his recovery really was but i was a bit dubious about him staying if we were into say september before he recovered enough to manage. I liked what he seemed to be attempting to do and fit he would have got another season from me.. Obviously now i'd probably be tempted to keep him on if he  was in in a coma but he will go down as a lost opportunity in my book - i can't remember a manager who got turned on so quickly, what was it 5 months? I'm sure that record will go soon mind.

If he was fit without a doubt yes. I think there was a bigger picture view with GH that would have seen us building a very talented squad.

No, simple as, wish him all the best and good health, but some of the public outing of players and the akwardness of some of his antics, that poe faced quircky smile after we'd just got hammered a few times i just found very strange indeed, naaa, never a Villa man in a million years.

Would agree with that.

He had a lot to sort out in the first half of the season but after January you could see it starting to take shape.  With all foreign managers they seem to put their foot in it at times, different cultures may be

I am very very bitter and that snippet from Dave about four signings lined up to push for top four has made me worse.

I would sooner have in charge a deceased good manager than a live Alex McLeish.

But in reality we would have been battling relegation again. No thanks, lets just get behind the new boss.

I, and I would imagine most others, only wanted GH to leave on the proviso he would be replaced by someone more capable of progressing the club.

I, and I would imagine most others would've hoped that the club had this in mind too.

I and I would imagine most others are going to be dissapointed, non-plussed and just a little peeved if the events pan out as expected.

If his health was ok I would say yes I could see the direction he was going with us.
