Aston Villa Infrastructure

Within Villa's board who do they have who got experience of football networking?

The reason I ask this is that when Lerner walked into villa MON was already in place and Steve Stride was on board in a senior position.

Steve Stride retires and current senior team lead by Paul Faulkner came on board in recent years.

MON walks out and it takes 7 weeks to get GH on board .

GH becomes ill on 20th April and leaves 2 weeks ago and we dont seem to have plan B

Friedel walks away to Spurs, Ashley Young appears to have gone to Man United  and we still dont seem to have any one lined up

Surely we need a Gary Cook (got forbid) style senior figure who well networked within football?

I not critising the guys who are on board, but Fulham appointed in Jol in 2 days, we missed out on Hughes last summer.
We just seem sloww to react

I put it down to the way we do things rather than the speed we  react. Unless i mis-read it, whelan received a written letter in the post asking to speak to Martinez. wtf?! Is it 1950? Sorry, but if every other club is sounding out managers before they approach their clubs then thats what we should do, if only to save time and avoiding public knock-backs. It's one thing acting honourably, its another operating with one arm tied behind your back.

My point exactly. Steve Stride was a footballing man, knew all there was to know about Villa, from the top to the bottom. Ive mentioned this on previous posts but I really think the appointment of Paul Faulker is a mistake that I think Doug would not of made.

It's glaringly obvious that they're missing someone with football know-how (and we all know where they can find one) but to compare us to Fulham is misleading. All they had to do was ring Jol and say "Changed your mind?"

What happened to make that Fitzgerald fellow leave? I'd forgotten about him.

Fell out with O'Neill.

How come we've got any staff left at Villa Park then?

I don't see this sentence as relevant in the context of your question, Richard. Friedel was out of contract and the management and Board obviously decided that they couldn't offer what he wanted. AY - well, we know: he's now going to be paid £130k a week and will get Chumps Lge footie; we can't compete.

You other points are valid. tho'.

I would add that I'm sure PF will have excellent networking skills: it'd be a key criterion of the job.

He must be either the worst or the unluckiest CEO of all time. The change in fortunes at the club since he took up the reins is astonishing.

Maybe our new manager's been put in the post back to us. Just as soon as someone finds the 'while you were out' card, we can nip down the nearest Post Office and pick him up.

Can't disagree!
What actually is his background? - doing a quick tinterweb search hasn't really thrown anything up that gives an insight into his background and experience.

I would thought Des Bremner could be ideal for a footballing person on board. He work for PFA and got business expertise and won a cup in 1982 :)

Just a suggestion.
