His goal at Wembley is etched into my brain.  I'll remember that long after I've forgotten my own name and where I live.

I had the best view in the stadium of that goal.  I knew as soon as it left his boot it was going in.

Boom boom boom let me hear you say Savo
I was sat with the Leeds fans as this was the only way I could get a ticket through my brothers work, as a 14 year old I was pretty exctiable when that shot went in and had to be physically restrained by my brother for about 20 minutes afterwards!

 RIP

My daughter was chosen to be the mascot at the Newcastle United Home game in January 1997. The chaperone who Villa put with my daughter introduced Stacie to Savo and she told him that he was Stacie's favourite player. With that Savo took over the chaperone role and took her onto the pitch for the warm up , got her autograph book filled with both Villa and Newcastle signatures. and after she'd led the Villa out with Andy Townsend, she and Savo took practice at Bossie.  Despite what happened later on in his Villa career he is still a top bloke round here. My thoughts are with him and his family.

A real shame for Savo.

He drove me absolutely nuts when he played for us. Looking back, it was more than a bit unfair. He joined us at more or less the same age that a number of youngsters emerged last year to cries of 'golden generation'.

Even the transfer fee didn't explain it. We've spent more on and got less from other young players, and still been far more patient.

A legend for scoring the goal against Leeds, which he did do,  and also for spitting on fans at Blackburn, which he didn't.

Without wishing to be unkind, I get the feeling this could only happen to Savo.

His ability as a ball carrier was one of the best I've ever seen in a villa shirt.  Shame I can't say the same about his shooting.

RIP and best wishes

Did he not spit on the fans away at Blackburn? I wasn't there but remember all the fuss at the time and vaguely remember some footage?
