Why 2 choices? Houllier for me, health permitting.

Why 2 choices?

Seeing as we are talking about who should be the next AV manager, I feel we should use the AV voting system.

How about adding an 'other' option?

I want houllier.
If he can't do it,  then and only then I want someone else.

The problem with this poll is that the voting does not take the position of GH into account.  They are not all starting from the same position, GH IS our manager.

Glad to see him doing well in a 'fantasy' vote - and I voted accordingly for No.2 - Ancelotti.

1. Carlo Ancelotti (record speaks for itself; good at getting the most out of his players, I think this could be transferred to (let's face it) less gifted players too,
2. Rafa Benitez. World class at his best, maybe the one best equipped to lead us to cup glory. However, ometimes he becomes distracted by his obsessions and has a tendency to fall out with his superiors. Could be a masterstroke if successful, but would be a bit of a gamble. (Why isn't he one of the options?)
3. David Moyes. Safe, solid choice. Somewhat MONesque approach to the game, but better man management skills and a better record of bringing through youngsters.

In short, I think Moyes is the board's first choice, and I would be happy with him. But I feel Rafa and Carlo possess a deeper understanding of the game and that is (as well as having had better players at their disposal) why they have won trophies and Moyes hasn't.

I would add him and Curbishley (I doubt anyone will vote for him but seeing as we've been linked and he was interviewed last time might as well put him in).

1. Nice bloke; won a few things with other people's teams that were already winning things, unproven at teambuilding.
2. Mentally unstable; won a few things with other people's teams that were already winning things, unproven at teambuilding.
3. Nice bloke; not won anything with his own team; Very good at motivating teams for the second half when already 2-0 down.

In short, no thanks.

Well fair play boys.  If shit results and chaos off the pitch floats your boat....

Seriously though, I kind of understand, I just don't know why.

Houllier should be allowed to stay (health permitting). If not we should go all out for Moyes.

I don't want Moyes.  He's been with Everton for 9 years.  What have they achieved?
And before anybody says, 'limited spending power', Blues and Stoke (both less than multibillionaire - owned clubs) got to cup finals this year. Everton are still a 'top 10' side in the premiership last time I looked and unlikely to climb any higher - like into the top 3, for instance.

Traditionally since DM's appointment they enjoy a terrible first half of the season (a bit like MU) but they end up safe.  Maybe that's what counts as success.

I think the main issue I have is that he is still at Everton.  If the guy is ambitious then why has he not moved on?  Did he go for the villa job last summer?  or when MON was appointed?  Has he gone for anything in the last 5 years?

If he's that bloody brilliant how come he's still at a limited income club showing how well he can work with so-called mainstream players; and there's no insult intended there to the players.

I am still recovering from googling David Moyes and finding god knows how many references to him with 'the Aston Villa job' an hour ago.  I don't want an unambitious eventual top ten fixer as our manager.  I want Houllier.
