Tables Compared 2009/10 vs 2010/11
« on: May 27, 2011, 11:51:19 AM »
Not sure if this has been posted or highted - so apologies for repeating anything.

The points swing for each position in the table is quite interesting - with the top 10 sides all finishing with fewers points than the previous season's top ten sides - and vice versa for the bottom eight.

Am i reading this correctly?

So after all the groans, moans about this seasons performance against last years with MON we are actually on 2 points worse off?

Incredible if true

Or is it 9th position against 9th position this time

It amazes me that a team could have stayed up last season on 31 points!

Said before its been a really odd league this season. wild fluctuations in both sides of the table and yet 11th and 12th are the same!

No. As I read it, we scored 2 points less than the team that finished 9th last season.

The table shows how many points achieved the respective position in both years and compares.

We finished 6th last year, and achieved 6 more points than the team that did it this year.

Yep - that's right.

Just goes to show that it's been a 'condensed' league this year with lots of unpredicted results, which is basically the top teams dropping point to the lower teams.

To add to the parity: no side lost 10 or more matches at home and no side won 10 or more matches away.

The last time that happened was 1998-99 and previously 1996-97.

If we had achieved the same points as last season, we would have finished 5th, 4 points off 4th. If my auntie had bollocks etc...

But surely this shows that due to a more competitive league we wouldn't have done that.

We took 9pts off the top four this season (compared to 8 in 09/10) and 12 off the relegated sides (15 in 09/10).

So Blues points total this season would've been enough to finish 14th last year?
