I was 7 and watched the game sitting on my dads knee in front of the tele.I really wished he would of gone now so he could of come back and told me all about it but our kid had just been born so money was tight i guess.I remember him throwing me up in the air when we scored and my mum going mad at him for waking my baby brother up.
Anyway,my little boy is 7 today and he was born to the exact minute 22 years on that Withe scored the goal.
Happy birthday son and thank you dad for giving me the gift of following the greatest football club in the world.
We are the champions, champions of Europe

Uncanny. Have to confess I hadnt realised the anniversary til coming on here tonight. The weird bit is that today at work I went in my 1982 European Champions tracky top to wind up the resident (southern gloryseeking) Liverpool fans - first time I'd worn it this year.
Remember it like it was yesterday - 12 years old and running out the door and round the estate at FT screaming, to the bemusent of the Yam Yam majority in our part of Halesowen

The night before the game in Brum was electric as thousands enjoyed a few drinks before joining the queues for the special trains from New Street down to the awaiting ferries at Dover. I think our train went at about midnight, so it was a noisy flag-waving hour after kicking out time as the crowds waited outside the station. No channel tunnel back then unfortunately.

I was 4, so don't remember much about it. My parents both went though.

I was 17. Went with my mate by ferry and coach. Fantastic memories of a 2 (or 3, it's all a bit hazy) day bender. Got home a day later at 2am. Watched the game again twice on the betamax video that my old man taped for me and went straight to work....
Things that stuck with me:
Playing footy against the Bayern Fans on a pitch down the road from the stadium.
Wondering where the fuck Rimmer was going after 9 minutes and who the hell was Nigel Spink?
Being right behind the Withe goal.
Enduring the longest period of time ever after we scored.
Seeing the Cup being lifted.
Shedding a tear.

Yesterday at work I was saying "I'm sure I'm supposed to remember something from today. Like a birthday or something".

I was only twelve at the time and remember screaming at the tv when we scored happy days.

I went with my next door neighbour who was told to look after me as I was only 17 and as daft as a brush, well he fucked off to the pub as soon as we got to Rotterdam and I never saw him again until I somehow got home. Luckily I stumbled acrossa couple of other lads I knew from school and they looked old enough to secure alcohol (I looked about 13!) and we proceeded to get wasted.
Getting home was fun seeing as my neighbour had the travel details and I hadn't got a clue which ferry I was on or anything, and anyway we decided to join the huge amount of Vila fans who were making a night of it, I bluffed (or stowed) myself away on a ferry and then a couple of trains to brum (no money left by then) but I think they had decided it was wise not to bother the still celebrating hordes with trivial things like ticket checks!

You sound just like my 22 and 19 year old lads (latter is also at NTU!); seriously, I hope your time will come - I did have to endure the 1966 - 1975 period of decline and then renaissance.

I had just turned 7 and have no recollection of it whatsoever.
It pisses me off even today and unfortunately it probably will till the day I die because I can't see it happening again in my lifetime.
