Was right behind the goal when Downing scored. Very well taken goal indeed.

Downing has been superb this season.

I was  just waiting for the inevitable late Liverpool equaliser and our tumble back down to 14th. 9th is the highest we've been since when I wonder...after we beat Blackpool in November?

I'm very happy with our additional cash windfall. Randy deserves a bit of good news after all he's had to put up with this season.

I didn't say it was the greatest or most significant, but in terms of what it meant in a stand-alone manner Downing's goal today was our most valuable ever.
We understood.

I hope that the summer is as exciting as it needs to be.    Another summer of MON style scrambling around at the last minute could spell curtains.

Is Mon still in charge then USAV ?
To finish 9 th after all the internal strife the club has suffered this season is a marvellous result.
If you have to find doom and gloom at one of the few high points of the season, consider what can be done to rid the club of so many useless high earners and equally how we can hold on to the genuine class we have.

Yeah but no but yeah but no. Gabbys at West Ham has gotta be up there. Without it the end of the season would have had a whole different dynamic to it. Prior to Arsenal it was still a bit iffy to say the least. So that one might have been worth the 75-90 million that relegation is generally deemed to cost a club. I know you could sort of pick any winning goal but at that stage of the season it was absolutely vital.

Agreed.

I'm also happy with the extra prize money we got for fininshing 9th hopefully we can bring the right players in to push us on and I'm pleased for Stewart Downing to get the goal that beat Liverpool our player of a some what difficult season.
