right so someone who's won the double here,  Serie A, and the CL twice won't be in demand? Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't end up at Real if they find Mourinho too hot to handle

He might be good choice, but do he buy the players he rate for Chelsea or Roman do that. and what about Milan. Is he responsible for bringing  a Brazilian Dwight Yorke to Milan.

I would do more research if I were hiring.

I think even Gary Cook will appreciate that the guy who's given them their first trophy since 1976 has earnt at least until October.

Although I'd agree, you watch what happens if Mourinho or other such high profile name becomes available.

I would be delighted with him - and his ability not to mouth off will endear him to Randy.

Hard to know, as I think we'd pay him handsomely enough anyway (isn't Houllier on a fair wedge?). Wouldn't rule it out completely, but would class it as unlikely.

What Ger said.

According to Talk shite he has a 12month no premier league next clause in his contract if and when he leaves

I read that Ancelloti was on 6m a year.  I though Houllier was on closer to two million but I have no idea where I plucked that number from.

Where has this rumour come from?  Is is based on the football writers' awards thingy where lots of managers were happily telling the journalists (off the record) that they were interested in the Villa job (according to the guardian podcast).

If we get the chance then we'd be stupid to not try for Ancelloti, I'm sure we could negotiate with Chelsea to remove the 12-month embargo especially as we would not be seen as direct competition to them for a year or three.  Maybe we could include it in the Sturridge deal...

It's hard to argue with his record (including as a player). Let's not forget he took over a Chelsea side that had been second best for three years before leading them to the double. They played better football under him too. The way he has conducted himself has been impressive as well. He seemed to have the backing of a notoriously difficult dressing room too. I would think he would be as close to a universally popular appointment as you could get but with his reputation and I'm guessing wage demands I'm not holding my breath.

The way Ancellotti has conducted himself since being sacked shows Lerner he is a class act who is totally respectful and very popular with the press and the football fraternity .......
