All the players say the right things but their actions on the pitch dont correlate.

Anyway thanks DJ Stew for saying your going to stay, even though you still have 2 years left on your contract and we pay you 60K a week.

These footballers are such martyrs

We all need some good news, so when one of our better players is saying things like this then I'm happy.

The key to our better players staying with the club is the management situation.

Downing has backed it up more than most with his performances on the pitch . Bit harsh to lump him in the the Petrovs and Dunnes.

Yawn!

Our best player this season who has been subject to transfer speculation for weeks tells us that he's happy and wants to say and you find a way to turn it into a negative.

I'm not particularly Downings biggest fan but I do recognise that he has been one of our better players this season - the best of a shit bunch.
But, I will be happy if he signs a new contract and stays, not only because he can be a decent player, but more importantly because the message it sends out.
At least it says to our fans and other teams the covet our payers, that we are not totally shit. We are still a club and name that some are proud to be associated with.

Are we meant to jump for joy because our "best" player who in the scheme of things has been average this season tells us he is happy to stay at VP even though he is paid 60K per week and has two years left to run on his current contract?

We are meant to be grateful because a player wants to stay with us.

Fuck me the whole thing needs to be reversed

Indeed.

Downing has won me over with his consistent displays this season.  He's the one player who we can truly say has practiced what he preaches.  If the rest don't there isn't much he can do about it. I'm glad he's sticking round for the long term.

Good news indeed.

Now to start looking for a replacement for Young.

We've already got Young's replacement in Allbrighton. Better end product, without the on-field tantrums and the snood!

Slightly different player in my view.

However, Ash's replacement needs to be a player to play centrally either behind or alongside Bent.  That's not Marc, but it might be Fabian Delph.
