I think it would be more appropriate to have those bells tolling at the end of the match.

An alarm clock would have been more appropriate at the end of saturday's game.

Correct. Games like that should be decided by the toss of a coin behind closed doors instead of lots of toss on the pitch in full view.

Bring out your dead.

I'm not dead! After this season we do need something to shock us back to life.

I must be one of the few people who quite likes it, brings a wonderful sense of the macabre to proceedings.

I'll get my coat....

My Dad turns 70 in August but checked with me on saturday that I could hear the bells as well, I think he thought he might be getting called before his time was up.

Aplogies in advance as I posted this nonesense on another thread about the season end lap of "honour". However it is relevant here:

The lap of Honour.

Players trudging leaden footed - like Stan after sixty minutes - heads bowed and watched by pale blue seats of cold plastic. Tombstones of those departed from us.

And from the remaining few, yet to depart, a silent vigil but for a faint and constant 'hiss' of hate.

The drizzle out of a grey sky with a cold wind whipping sodden corner flags into sharp slaps of wet cloth - a cutting mockery of real applause.  The Holte silent as the grave except for the occasional keening wail of a fan overcome by mourning for times past.

The mournful "caw.....  caw" of an expectant Crow. Black of heart in it's need to scavenge from the dead remains of a once proud band of Brothers. "Aaaaaagh" screams a demented man living in the bowels of the Holte
"It's Vic come back to Haunt us !"

And as if to accompany the slowing heartbeat of those brave souls unable to leave this funeral march of misery and shame:

The Bells. Those Fuckin' Bells.

Bring back Escape.

Another vote for this.
http://

Here, here.

Sends shivers down my spine - brilliant!  Really sets the scene.

That said, such a dramatic opener would've been the most excitement I got on Saturday and just a little bit ridiculous given the shite served up on the pitch.

What was it we had before that?  It was some sort of fanfare I think...

If they are going to persist with the Bells then I think this is how the team should come out.

I hate it.Personally I preferred that classical piece of music we used to play, much more intimidating

Same really.

I just assumed when Bellls are ringing was recorded, we'd just play that on its own like other clubs do with their anthems.

The bell serves no positive purpose at all.

It's yet another embarrassing chapter in the farce that is our pre match, half time and post match atmosphere generator.  Whoever comes up with these shocking ideas needs removing from whatever role they're in and put on pouring the Bovril.
