Reo-Coker awaits Villa offer

Nigel Reo-Coker's agent has denied claims that he has rejected a new contract offer from Aston Villa.

Local reports in Birmingham suggested that the two parties were in 'deadlock' over talks about Reo-Coker extending his stay at Villa Park.

But his agent Tony Finnigan has insisted that they have not held talks with Villa since last year, and they are waiting for the club to approach them.

"To suggest that talks are 'deadlocked' is just ridiculous and plain wrong," Finnigan told skysports.com.

"The last set of talks we had with Villa was in December and at the time, rightly so, they stated that all contract talks would be put on hold until their Premier League status was confirmed.

"Now we are respectfully waiting for the club to come back to us, but there is no getting away from the fact Nigel is out of contract at the end of the season.

"If Nigel does leave Villa, then he would be the biggest English Bosman of the summer and at the age of just 26 would be one of the most in-demand ever.

"That is just the facts of where we are at the moment, but Nigel has enjoyed playing under Gerard Houllier - that is true so we are open minded about the situation."

I wouldn't mind him staying, but I would imagine he'll be asking for wages that are not in line with his ability.

He'll be off.

Limited ability but puts in a shift I would keep him but no increase in wages. He will be one of many to leave in the summer.

"Biggest English Bosman" - hmmm, rather melodramatic; agents talking up their product.
I like the subtle dig at MON "Nigel has enjoyed playing under Gerard Houllier".

I for one would like him to sign a new deal and stay at the Vila but i suppose with the agents operating in the background trying to get more money for themselves then i think he will go.

seems he needs to boost his agents fees from the chance of another deal with another club to me.
Newcastle and others are supposedly interested, perhaps he can't negotiate a good enough deal.

I'd like to see him stay if he is played but the new manager will have his own views, so who knows.

Self acclaimed best box to box midfielder in his own world. Which is pretty good because he can't pass, never seen him head a ball, can't go past people and as a midfield ball winner pretty average. Offers nothing we couldn't get cheaper and better. Another 8M Mon wasted!
