Football related arrests
« on: May 01, 2011, 08:42:22 PM »
Don't suppose anyone knows where I may be able to find some statistics on football related arrests pre-Taylor report?

I'm doing a report on hooliganism and want to look at the impact of the Taylor report on football related arrests/violence.

Cheers.

Aren't the statistics for football related arrests a bit false, in so much as they include any arrests that are made near a ground around game time, even if they have nothing to do with the football at all.

Ways of making and collating arrests then were so totally different as to make all comparisons virtually  meaningless.

Aye, part of my report focuses on this.

Further delving has lead me to draw this conclusion too. Ah well, back to the drawing board.

The big change was when the police stopped playing the part of the biggest "firm" at football matches and started to behave more like police officers.

Do they still use those horrible big long sticks with a bit of metal on the end?

Got battered by one of those in 1985 in that horrible little terrace they used to have in the corner of the Anfield road

The police at Leeds were always a stand out joy right up until they got relegated to be honest.
