It won't happen. This summer at least.

Some of our fans seem to have a masochistic tendency.

One of the buys of the season for me few have been better. Unlike Carroll and Torres, he's done the job he was bought for and his goals have gained us enough points nearly and at 18 mill nearly a snip.
Few managers have bettered this, well done Houllier and especially Randy for the cash.
When you look at the likes of Carew, Harewood he's some purchase.
Sell him?
Be daft if we did

I don't know exactly which of the 'big boys' would be able to get him in.
United - Can't see them wanting to spend that sort of money on someone who probably won't start.
Chelsea - Torres, Drogba, Anelka and Sturridge to return. They tend to play one up front most of the time so he'd get less chance there.
Arsenal - Possibly some interest from the but I doubt they could afford him.
Man City - Usually sign our most important players and Tevez will surely be going in the summer but they're still laden with strikers. Plus the financial fair play rules will (hopefully) curb their spending soon.
Tottenham - Redknapp can dream on.
Liverpool - Will probably get Young in as their big signing this year and with all the money they threw around on strikers I assume they'll be happy with what they've got.

Bottom line, I'm guessing (and hoping!) that he'll be at the Villa for a few years yet.

Not a prayer. Can see where you are coming from but no chance. For some reason the big 4 don't seem to rate him, otherwise they would have taken him on by now surely.

Liverpool have Carroll & Suarez,  Man Utd and Chelsea are well stocked, No chance he would go back to Spudz after his relationship with Redknapp (and would Redknapp climb down?).

Man City maybe, but then again they can have their pick of most players in the league.

I don't think he was necessarily being negative, Mate. Possibly just hoping to get some reassurance from others that think Bent will be with us for a while yet. ;)

Benty contributes precious little outside the box and so is simply never going to be an Arsenal signing. They tried a similar thing with Jeffers and since then have abandoned the idea of buying strikers who can't also fit into their passing game. Chelsea won't be interested either, they have to hope Torres will come good after a decent pre-season. Citeh will want a bigger name if they are going to replace Tevez. United might bid, but I really don't think Fergie would fancy him.

Spurs are more likely to sign Sandra Redknapp and Liverpool have spunked the Torres cash. Bent will give us at least another season anyway. He seems to be enjoying his football.

I don't think for one second he is up for sale but I also don't know what we will do if we are offered a price somewhere between the £35m paid for Carroll and the £50m paid for Torres.

Yes you do..
