At 4.45 on Sat 10th April 1993 we were  two points ahead of ManU in terms of our Premier League total and had both scored 51. Ten added minutes and two Steve Bruce goals later we were behind on both counts and the gap has just got bigger and bigger ever since.
18 years later we are 521 points behind them and our goal difference is now 757 worse!
What's more Utd had won the FA Cup seven times and European Cup once at that stage, both the same as us.
The phrase "Fergie-time" comes to mind.

Why is it called a premier league table when it seems to refer to all results in the First Division since 1888 ? Plus a few recent seasons of 'premier league'.

The term 'premier league' is a relatively recent naming and branding exercise which wouldnt be recognised or understood by the founding fathers.

I was saying that to somebody earlier. 1992/93 was such a big moment in our history. To think of the success United have ahd since is scary.

It's based on the points that applied at the time, so a mixture of both.
