Unless Welsh and Northern Irish teams were invited to play, wouldn't this technically be an Anglo-Scottish farce and not a British one?

No thank you.

This is all about selling to TV the idea of Chelsea v Rangers or Celtic v Man Utd.  In the real world it'll be Hamilton v Wigan in front of a "crowd" of 563.

You would need to drop NI to make it a British one.  To include them it would have to be a UK league cup.

Less than 12,000 fans at the semi final on Saturday between Motherwell and St Johnstone at the national stadium tells you exactly where Scottish football is heading.

To be fair it is roughly akin to a match between Walsall and Carlisle in terms of fanbase and it is probably poorer in terms of quality.

And the SFA are worse than clueless.

It does but NI is not geographically part of Britain.

We should go the whole hog and have a British Isles League cup.  This would cover all bases.

No it doesn't, because it's the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Great Britain and Northern Ireland are separate entities

I actually knew someone who supported them. They're called Llanfair FC and that is what's chanted at games. Well, by the 30 or so who went.

The attendances at League cup games in England are abysmal, in Scotland they are laughable.  Putting the two together would be a disaster.  Arbroath vs Bolton on a Tuesday night in October?  I don't think so.
