He won't end up in prison, but may decide to invade Russia

With proper psychiatric evaluation of potential player signings you might well steer clear of Gascoigne, Best, Maradonna and Cantona but of those four only Cantona might be considered to have solved more problems (ie made a net positive contribution to the game of football) than they have created for themselves, their employers and the game.

If you were to say to me but Georgie Best was a sublime talent who gave pleasure to a lot of people I would reply that he finished up a broken, bankrupt wreck of a man who wasted his life and went to an early grave.   Proper psychiatric help at the right time not "what you having George?" would have given him a chance.   His talent merited that chance.

Who would want to steer clear of any of those four players ?
Imagine all of them together in your team, with Mcgrath at the back (another one that any 'proper' psychiatric evaluation would have advised Graham Taylor to steer clear of).

Does the Disability Discrimination Act apply to employing footballers? Just a thought.

Would be nice if M.City came out and said that they knew he was a loon-bag and that's why they wanted him out - Villa could then claim they were sold defective merchandise and get a refund.
Or something.
I was excited to see what happened to the team when he arrived but I never expected it all to turn out into such a farce. Could have been good, but I underestimated how much of a tool he is.

As someone posted on another thread - Ireland is the ideal player (attribute wise) to be playing in that "hole" behind Bent. When he is on his game he is fantastic at timing his runs so that he is in the box at the right time.

Just a shame he is a fucking nutter though.

that is a case for mark hughes as manager as he would get the best from ireland , warnock and dunne as he did when managing them all before, not that hughes would be my choice .

They should have a footballers version of Big Brother for all the fruitloops who have found their way into the game.

I'd propose Stephen Ireland, Sasa Curcic, Gennaro Gattuso, El Hadji Diouf, René Higuita, and David Icke.

More good news on Ireland.

He's injured again and out for the rest of the season, so will be back here soon-ish.

Rejoice!

He really is doing his best to win the 2011 Sasa Curcic Completely Wasteful Wanker Award. Previous winners include the Moore brothers and Stan Collymore

So Argentina would have been advised to steer clear of picking Maradonna in 1986 and he made no significant contribution to that tournament?

He's a lot worse than any of them.

It should be named the Stephen Ireland award.

He's certainly running old Sasa close that's for sure.

So Bodymoor Heath will now have to put up with his mentalist, moaning ways for a bit longer.

He should be made to dress up as Napoleon.
