*apart from all the really good reasons why not.

We've got plenty of options in midfield and up front anyway. Just need to hope we can put out a reasonably experienced defence.
I'd like to play Delph, Makoun and Reo Coker in midfield as I think they'd run the show but that means one of the three amigos behind Bent missing out and he wont do that. Not sure I could blame him.

So I think we'll go with...

..............................Friedel

Walker........Collins...........Cuellar......Young

...................Makoun.......Reo Coker

Downing................Young..............Albrighton

..............................Bent

If in trouble or need to go for the kill I'd switch to...

...........................Friedel

.............Collins..................Cuellar

Walker.................Reo Coker..............Delph

................Makoun...............Downing

........Agbonlahor.......Bent........Young

Or summat.

Friedel
Walker Cuellar Collins Young
Albrighton Makoun NRC Young
Gabby Bent

I'd go with that, except i'd have Heskey for Gabby, he caused them all sorts of problems last time.
Gabby can come off the bench, if needed.

I'd swap Reo-Coker for Delph in that first line up Maz.

TinkerFletch and TinkerRisso are rotating the squad.

A settled 11 is SOOOO last season.

I can't see us losing this, but a draw while not being catastrophic would not see us pulling away from trouble which we urgently need to do.  I reckon a scrappy 2-1, which will do.

I would too. I just dont think he will.
He'll want to protect the back four and Reo Coker is currently the best at doing that even though Delph would add more control and better distribution whilst still having a tenacious edge in midfield.

Why have I got a nagging feeling that he'll start with Pires?

I had the same. Oh well, it could be argued that he's earned it after we demolished Blackburn.
I wouldn't listen to it, but it could be argued.

Agree, he'll certainly do something "left field" and we'll all be going WTF !! at 2pm on Saturday

Win this and we are guaranteed to be at least 4 points clear of 3rd bottom, as opposed to the 2 we are currently.
