A game of two halves.   ;)

But seriously, it really was as far as converting chances are concerned.  MA looked a different player after the break too.  Great win and 4 points of 7th placed Bolton, who we will beat next week.

Well done Houllier! A lot of people on here doubted his selections today. He proved today that he picked the right team for this match. It will be nice this evening for there not to be a slag off Houllier post match thread!
Well done to all.

Glenn Peen needs to pen a ditty before every home game from now on.

Nice to see us finally looking comfortable and playing decent football. West Ham on the opening day was a long time ago. Had to rub my eyes when I saw Petrov make bursting runs into the box late on (he was a sub, but still..).

A pity we couldn't keep a clean sheet but the defence played well and were undone by a deflection.

We are now almost equidistant between 6th and 18th. It was crucial we won today. A couple of more wins on the trot and we look forward to a relaxing (though perhaps boring) last few games of the season.

Agree what a cool performance by NRC

I'm far from his biggest fan, believing he's too limited technically to appear regularly for a team with European ambitions, but he really impressed me today.  Nice sharp, simple passing, and kept the ball moving quickly.

If Makoun had put in that performance we'd be singing his praises, and rightly so.

The 1st signs today of GHs revolution?

   For me NRC MON.

Does that mean NRC today played the role of a stubborn, short-sighted, egotistical, money-grabbing...

You do mean man of the match. Sorry.

Well that was shit. Should have had seven.

Goal difference will be crucial in May.

Joking aside, great win.  Table looks a lot better tonight.

I think NRC has been our most consistant player this season, that was him at his best, won tackles, passed to a Villa player every time, covered space, what more do you want from a defensive midfield player

Game of two halves, I thought Pires was shite first half, He had a few shots but most were at the keeper, Bent missed 2, Albrighton was on the left, Downing on the right I thought here we go.

2nd half much better Pires was better I thought Downing played well, As did Walker & Dunne, he made one mistake and we weren't made to pay! Really could have scored 8 today!

Much needed win

The only down side today was Benty. Got into good positions but wasn't sharp. Still, he'll get his share between now and the end of the season.
