Good stuff, it's nice to see ex player around the place, particularly ones who are true Villa fans like Ian Taylor.

Great news Villa, I have a signed shirt (the black away diadora/ntl) one framed in my office at work, one of my heroes as he is one of us.

Ian is one of us, I had 7 & Taylor every year he was at the club. I always rate his home game against Chelsea when he scored, I think it was his home debut.

That boy would have played in goal if he'd have been asked!

Congrats to him

I wonder if he'll be asked if he regrets confusing his role as 'Villa Legend' (tm) with his job working for an agent when he appeared on TV saying Villa should let Barry join Liverpool.

Taylor was a fine player for us. But Villa legend? Na, never in a million years.

Perhaps it is possible that he made a mistake, it's not unforgivable. Plenty of Villa heroes have made mistakes in their life, Paul McGrath for example.

McGrath's made mistakes in his private life which were nothing to do with Villa. Taylor went out of his way to advice the club to let one of a players move to another club. It then turned out his was working for the agent of the said player who was looking for a move.
He certainly lost some brownie points there.

I disagree.

A legend does not have to be about being the best player ever, it can also be about being a local hero, a player who always gave absolutely everything in nearly every game, and a player who was a local lad, a Villa fan and who was truly living the dream.

For me Ian Taylor fulfils those criteria and is, for me, and in my opinion only, a Villa legend.
