0% Villa - CL final 2011 (Wembley) ticket prices
« on: February 18, 2011, 02:59:17 PM »
From WSC:
Quote
Michel Platini wanted the Champions League final to be moved to Saturday so that more children could attend. The cheapest ticket for this year's game at Wembley is £150 plus a £26 "administration fee". So that's just for the children of Barclays bank executives, Russian oligarchs and deposed Middle Eastern autocrats, then.

£176!  Bloody hell!  Quite glad we didn't finish 4th now  ;)

Let's be quite honest, they could be £10,000, it's meaningless to us.

That's disgraceful.  £26 admin fee - bloody hell.

I think that price is for the cheapest ticket in a neutral seat.

Not sure why there should be "neutral" seats in a European Cup final but if they are selling them they should charge a bomb to subsidise cheaper tickets for proper supporters.

I think seat prices start at about £80 for supporters of either competing team.

Which is still fucking ridiculous, don't get me wrong.

Either way, they'll end up in the hands of touts and proper fans will pay through the nose to get hold of one

And 35-40 Dutch Florins for a 1982 ticket in Rotterdam.

No idea what that's worth in "our" money

The message couldn't be any clearer.

Football fans? Not wanted.

Fair point.  Unless Spurs get to the final, obviously.

It makes my blood boil, not that I have to pay it or anything but normal supporters just like us will, so wrong

I did fancy applying until I saw the price of them, I would love to take my lad to see Barcelona, at this rate it would be cheaper to go to Spain to watch them.

I went to the Cup Winners Cup final at Villa a few years ago, went to the Euro 96 final, and fancied adding another final to my list, I applied for the final at Old Trafford a few years ago but didn't get them.

European teams generally have a poor away following compared to the big English and Scottish clubs (I think Milan had less than 10k in Istanbul, Liverpool more like 40) and so if the final is between 2 non English clubs then I would think it will be 80% corporate with a small contingent of actual fans.

I posted this in the neutral games thread but here it is again: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/18/ticket-prices-champions-league-final-wembley

Look at the 8th paragraph, a big 'fuck you, we don't care' to football supporters.

It seems they don't want fans at games, they are happy with four stands of glass fronted executive boxes and a million cameras showing every angle for the armchair fans at home.
