You going? I've just had the ticketing arrangements through and I'm not sure what tickets to get for the opening ceremony. £20.12 category D or £2012 for category AA. What a fucking dilemma.

Apparently the football starts a few days before the opening ceremony. In Coventry.

Can anyone else think of a more underwhelming and low key start to such a huge event?

If you want accommodation with your tickets, Thomas Cook have that gig and you can book in store with them or on line from 15th March.

The first two games are at the Millenium Stadium Cardiff not that you'd want the facts to get in the way of course.

I misheard the radio report then. It was a glib comment based on a prejudice towards Coventry and a long standing bitterness towards London and the Olympics from a Parochial angle following Birmingham's doomed bid.

If I manage to get tickets for any events in the new stadium I'm going to smash the bogs up and ruin West Ham's new ground

I'll be avoiding as much of it as possible.

I can't get my head around why some sports are included, why some are left out and why there are events that are competitive arts rather than sport.

Synchronised Swimming & Dressage - what the feck is the point of that ?

Such non-sports should be combined with the likes of Ice Dancing and Ice Skating to create a "Competitive Arts Olympics" separate from proper sport.

I'm with UKRS - any activity where the "winner" is determined by someone's opinion and not by time, points, distance etc should be moved to X Factor Olympics

Rugby sevens and golf are being added for 2016 which is, ludicrously, in the same country as the 2014 World Cup.

Add:

Darts, snooker and wanking.

Britain will add to the medal count and I might have a chance in the latter.

As long as we're talking "distance travelled" or "volume produced" rather than some kind of artistic, subjective marking system.
